Venice Canal

Revisiting Venice, Italy, by painting one of the gondola's whose home was on the canal, right outside the window of the Hotel Dalla Mora where we spent several glorious days. There's no way of describing Venice that can do it justice. One has to see it to believe it. Such a beautiful, fairy tale place on the planet. Too good to be true. Can't wait to go back.... In the mean time, I'll just have to keep making paintings of it and pretend that I'm there!

Window Boxes

I'm so glad that I took a ton of photos on our last trip to Italy. The magical window boxes seen everywhere in Venice, so captured my excitement that I decided to try my hand at creating a painting of them. This particular building was one of many in a row, in the Cannaregio district. This is an area that's pretty much a typical neighborhood that's not very touristy. It was great to walk there and see all the fabulous architecture, window boxes full of great bright blooms, and laundry hanging from lines going from one window to the next. Such an incredible part of Italy. So romantic!

Window Boxes

The incredible light of Venice, Italy. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. It's like walking into a fairy tale. This painting is just a sample of the beauty seen everywhere in Venice. This particular "buildingscape" is in the picturesque Cannaregio District.
