Sunset Quietude
One of my all time favorite things to paint are Birch trees. They are glorious, glamorous and striking. When I add that all up I find I have a wonderful, exciting painting adventure ahead. Here is what I came up with. Hope it brings you joy.

Solitude
A magical moment when the sun disappeared into the mountain cloud cover. The light became diffused and dreamy. The stream echoed the sky in color and serenity. The glories of nature paint the most incredible picture of all.
I love the feeling that this painting conveys

Window Boxes
I'm so glad that I took a ton of photos on our last trip to Italy. The magical window boxes seen everywhere in Venice, so captured my excitement that I decided to try my hand at creating a painting of them. This particular building was one of many in a row, in the Cannaregio district. This is an area that's pretty much a typical neighborhood that's not very touristy. It was great to walk there and see all the fabulous architecture, window boxes full of great bright blooms, and laundry hanging from lines going from one window to the next. Such an incredible part of Italy. So romantic!

Dance Partners
Radiant white Cone Flowers grace the gardens here in town. So much like white daisies, but with a much larger and showier center. They are such beauties. They seem so strong and sturdy with ample stems, yet at the same time, so delicate. This pair just looks like they want to leap out onto the dance floor! Maybe that's just me and my antsy self waiting patiently to finish this painting knowing I'm going to get to go out tonight and cut a rug!

Daisies Outside My Door
Each day when I walk over to my studio some beautiful new flower speaks to me! Yesterday it was the dancer like daisies that jumped right out. So, I knew what I had to paint. Here they are. A lovely trio of snow white daisies smack in the middle of summer!

Evening Tide
I spent many years living in tranquil, northern Vermont, before moving to Mendocino. It was astounding to see the parallel's and similarities between the two places. The Victorian style houses are so reminiscent of a number of places in New England. The only difference is Vermont has snow and Mendocino has the ocean! I've lived here now for over 20 years and truly love it. I often say to my husband when we return home from a vacation, " where could one possibly live after having lived here?"

Bright One
A glorious sunny, bright day, gave me a good excuse to paint another Calla Lily and to give it the name "Bright One." Indeed it was! I found this to be a perfect opportunity to use the sunshiney colors in the background, that were shining through the translucent lily. Any opportunity to paint another Calla Lily with some new idea on how to do so, I'll take!

Purple Passion Poppy
This painting is part of a three part series of using an identical flower as the subject, with different background colors and treatments. It was an experiment to see how many interesting types of different backgrounds I could come up with. And yes, they are all quite varied. It's really fun to create a series, and to see where you can go with it. I really got into the flow of things with this one. So, here is my first offering of one of my favorite flowers to paint. I love poppy time!

Storm Front
Being in daily contact with the ocean, rocks, and sky, make this the most magical place to live. What an incredible blessing it is to get to spend so many years enjoying life here on the Mendocino Coast. The ever-changing colors of the sea and sky are glorious. From turquoise to cobalt and everything in between.
The daily transitions taking place always inspire me to delve into my painting
supplies. I hope this piece evokes the feeling of Mother Nature's incredible energy.

Stunning lilies surround me. They're popping up everywhere --- and in all colors. The white ones always speak to me. They're so pure and lovely.

Calla Magic
This was such a super fun painting to make. I loved creating the
exacting botanical part along with a background that's totally abstract!
I painted 3 different layers of background, and worked with a variety
of materials, one on top of the other, insuring that some part of each
layer would "surface." And, it worked! Therein lies the reason for
the title "Calla Magic!" This is certainly one of my favorites. I hope you like it too!

Calla Royale
This is probably my favorite Calla Lily painting I've done this year. I just got it back from the Members Juried "Garden Theme" Show at the Mendocino Art Center. Prior to that, I had the painting hanging in our home. I decided it was time to put it out to the world on Daily Paintworks. There are many things about this piece I'd like to duplicate. I think the composition is different and fun, and I love the texture in the background inks. Those inks are so much fun to play with. Several of them even sparkle! I hope this painting brings you joy, too.

Summer Delight
Another fine summer morning here in Caspar. The white iris are blooming and boy oh boy does that ever make my heart sing, given the penchant I have for ALL white flowers. I don't know what it is about them that just makes me want to run to my studio and grab onto paper and paintbrush. I love the strong contrast in this particular painting between the flower and the ink background. The flower looks to me like it should be wearing a wedding dress, since it's definitely the bride!
