Glow From Within

http://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/sunshine-taylor-2674
Of course, as always, I'm inspired to paint one more Calla. I decided I wanted to try using totally different colors in the background than I used in the Calla itself. I normally would use some of each of the same color in the background and in the main subject so as to create a sense of cohesiveness. But, what the heck. It's always fun to try something new. I'm pretty tickled with the outcome. Hope you like it too...

Glow From Within

I was pleased to find, upon close inspection, that a second crop of Calla's are about to spring forth.

Bright One

A glorious sunny, bright day, gave me a good excuse to paint another Calla Lily and to give it the name "Bright One." Indeed it was! I found this to be a perfect opportunity to use the sunshiney colors in the background, that were shining through the translucent lily. Any opportunity to paint another Calla Lily with some new idea on how to do so, I'll take!

Calla Magic

This was such a super fun painting to make. I loved creating the exacting botanical part along with a background that's totally abstract! I painted 3 different layers of background, and worked with a variety of materials, one on top of the other, insuring that some part of each layer would "surface." And, it worked! Therein lies the reason for
the title "Calla Magic!" This is certainly one of my favorites. I hope you like it too!

Drama Queen

http://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/sunshine-taylor-2674

Another stately Calla gracing my flower garden. So beautiful to see them every day. I'm sure glad I love painting Calla's as much as I do. Painting them feeds my soul like nothing else. I hope I've gotten that feeling across to all.

Swaying in the Breeze

With summer on it's way the Calla's are beginning to slow down. I love painting them and will just keep going with it until I've had my fill. However, I doubt that will ever happen! Here's another combination of the central subject being painted in watercolor with acrylic inks creating the background. I love that combo. It just makes magic for me!

Heart Song

This Calla Lily painting was part of a series, where I once again became fascinated with imbedding a variety of materials into the acrylic ink background, which were later removed once the inks had dried. I love the textures created by this process. I plan to keep growing with it! I love the happy go lucky Calla's!

Glow From Within

In my ongoing quest to paint Calla Lilies with a lilt and a difference, I decided to try a series that uses acrylic inks for the background. They are so luscious. Alot of them are sparkly and metallic, while others are rich and subtle in color. I could go on and on, but I'll stop here and just let you take in the finished product. Wouldn't you enjoy waking up being greeted by this smiling flower face!

This unframed painting is a watercolor with acrylic ink background, on 7.25" x 9.25" 140# Fabriano paper.
