Aglow With Life

The light shines in on my bouquet. The radiance and joy that Spring delights in bringing to my garden makes my heart sing!
I couldn't resist picking a bright collection of these beauties to paint. I hope in this painting I've conveyed the sense of Spring's teeming abundance.

Power Flower

A fine Spring day led me to a garden over grown with baby blue Forget-Me-Nots, along with several types of smallish yellow, and largish white daisy like blooms.
Along with a chunk of cheese and a glass of soda, I created a still life before placing my paintbrush in hand. There was so much Spring energy emanating from the garden, that to mimic that feeling and embellish the painting, I decided to first collage onto my painting surface a variety of hand made papers on which to paint. Those alluring, sparklingbackground effects that I absolutely love, are exactly what I was hoping to create. So here is the result.....

Looking Beyond

Another Calla Lily painting in a series, combining watercolor with acrylic inks. I'm loving all the textures and patterns I'm able to attain by pressing a wide variety of materials into the acrylic ink background. This technique is joyfully taking me on a walk down a new adventuresome path. I can't wait to see where it leads next.

Looking Up

Painting garden florals continually embraces my spirit with joy. I've been an artist for many years and have always enjoyed both the botanically precise side of painting florals, as well as the more impressionistic "let loose" side. I hope the inspiration and happiness I try to evoke in my flower paintings will put a smile on your face.

Keeping the Light

Another one of those paintings where I like to invent new ideas about combining colors, and shapes. I particularly like how "the bride" shows up in this piece. She's definitely ready to walk down the aisle.....

White Star

What a fun experiment it was to paint this. There's a lot of collage going on beneath the surface of the paint, creating a touchy-feely sense. A tactile richness is felt when you run your hand over the artwork. There's something alluring about a painting that both feels and looks yummy!

This painting is a multi-media acrylic/collage on 10.25" x 14.50" paper, mounted on 16" x 20" artist panel covered with painted decorative paper

 Summer Blend

I delight in the beauty of all the jars of acrylic colors in my studio. Playing with them to create excitement and joy on my canvas is one of my favorite adventures in life. Picnic paintings bring great pleasure and evoke wonderful memories. I imagine they do for you too. Bright sunny light is always a great help!
