Calla Party
The Calla's have gone completely wild here in Caspar. And so have all the other flowers. Late Spring rains bring bountiful flowers. I just can't get enough of the playfulness the calla's display. They always look like they're having a great time hanging out with one another. What gorgeous, stately, one-of-a-kind flower "volunteers." They will always be my favorites. Painting them both in watercolor and acrylic are equally fun. I think I get a lot more wild myself when painting them in acrylic. Might as well let loose and have a great time with it all!

Winter Surprise
I was spurred on to create this Calla Lily painting by the little bee feasting on the pollen on the stamen of the flower. It was such a wonderful sight to see so early in winter. Another painting in which I restricted my use of color, to see what kind of unusual blends and patterns I could obtain. Once again, it's endless. There's a world filled with artistic wonders out there with which to experiment. Each day something new and exciting grabs me!

Heart Flying High
I love this color combination. It seems so rich and deep. For me, the red paint and metallic gold ink create vibrancy and harmony. I find the heart shape with the red dots contained within, complimentary to one another. This heart feels like it's taking off into the heavens. I never know what's going to evolve when creating hearts, but I always love the surprise at the end. Hope you do too....

Sunflower Surprise
http://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/sunshine-taylor-2674
This has to be one of the most exciting paintings I've ever created. It was based on a variety of hand-made papers being glued to the canvas, with the grid painting glazed on top. Next was the joy ride---applying the delicate lines of the sunflower with acrylic inks and a nib pen, along with a variety of other pointy tools. This process transformed the combined layers into a transparent wonderland. Happy, bright, and welcoming. Wouldn't this be a show stopper and fun conversation piece to grace your wall?

Evening Symphony
Another blustery, stormy, Mendocino Coast Day. The energy of the sea is astounding. The clouds were swooping through the sky like trapeze artists!
I love how exhilarating the north coast sea can be. I love how enlivened it makes me feel. This painting, gracing your wall, can bring that energy your way too...

Geraniums
Another painting inspired while traveling in Spain. The old, beautiful, white painted houses, with all the signs of aging on the exterior, make a painter's heart sing! And then there's the splash of ruby red Geraniums gracing the window, with stark shadows sweeping below. What could possibly be more beautiful, and make one happier than a sight like this?

Sea Arches
Right here on the Mendocino Headlands you can find numerous, spectacular sea arches, carved over time by the ocean's powerful force. It's mesmerizing to watch the water rush through the archways. Endless hours of entertainment for sure! Each time I do a painting of one of these sea arches, I feel totally blessed to have the good fortune of living here.

Storm Front
Another blustery, wintry day here on the northern coast of California. It looked like the birds were just trying to find a little sheltered nook in which to make their landing. The storm was blowing in full force, which is nothing unusual around here. The colors of the ocean and sky were glorious. From turquoise to cobalt and everything in between.
What a reminder of mother natures incredible force.

Looking Beyond
Another Calla Lily painting in a
series, combining watercolor with acrylic inks. I'm loving all the
textures and patterns I'm able to attain by pressing a wide variety of
materials into the acrylic ink background. This technique
is joyfully taking me on a walk down a new adventuresome path. I can't
wait to see where it leads next.

Evening Tide
I spent many years living in tranquil, northern Vermont, before moving to Mendocino. It was astounding to see the parallel's and similarities between the two places. The Victorian style houses are so reminiscent of a number of places in New England. The only difference is Vermont has snow and Mendocino has the ocean! I've lived here now for over 20 years and truly love it. I often say to my husband when we return home from a vacation, " where could one possibly live after having lived here?"

Lavender Fields Forever
http://www.dailypaintworks.com/Artists/sunshine-taylor-2674
I snapped a photo of this scene while driving past. The color combined with the scent of lavender was breathtakingly delicious. A scene bathed in violet hues.I love traveling abroad and finding myself in remote, idyllic places. This particular spot seemed as if it were straight out of the Wizard of Oz, only the flowers weren't red poppies!

Charmer II
Fabulous white flowers to paint --- my dream come true! I just can't believe how fun it is to create paintings that speak of life at it's best. What could be happier than a big, perky, wholesome, white flower, greeting you with it's happy smile, day in and day out???
